Deimos's Review of Griffin Armament Micro Carry Comp 1/2x28
Even after reading all the negatives for a comp on an EDC weapon, I purchased the Griffin micro carry and a True Precision threaded barrel for my Hellcat OSP.
Optics Planet had decent prices, both were in stock and they shipped quickly.
Install took a whole 5 minutes. Just swap out the barrel, put on an O ring and screw on the comp. Didn’t even use Loctite. Now all I read was you needed a 16 mm wrench. Not so. 16 does not fit, and 17 is a bit loose, but that does tighten it. A 21/32 might be perfect, but I don’t have one…yet.
Another negative I heard was it makes the weapon way too long. Well, if almost another 3/4 inch is a problem, that might be true. Just used a dremmel tool to shave a bit from my holster and it fits through perfectly.
Ran a box of 147 gr JHP through it and I didn’t go deaf, didn’t get flash blinded and didn’t get hit with dirt from the blast. What I was able to do was keep the red dot from the Hex Wasp in the window during every shot. It jumped a little, but never disappeared. Of course I was using the 15 round mags so one has a better grip.
As far as I can tell, this little gadget does it job, at least on the small Hellcat type pistol. Other writers said it didn’t do much, but they were all firing larger weapons.

Pros:
- Does reduce recoil.
Cons:
- Sometime have to alter holster.
Best Used for:
- Springfield Hellcat or similar weapon. Just my opinion, of course.
