I Expect Better From Griffin
Optics Planet is usually my main source, for gun parts. But, full disclosure; I purchased this rail from Griffin, directly. I would’ve probably saved a few bucks getting it from OP, but you guys didn’t have the 11.5” rail I needed for my 12.5” build. And that’s with the Veterans discount, that Griffin gives me.
But, I digress…. I expect more from a company that’s run by Vets. The rail material itself is T-6061 aluminum. It’s fine, not the best, but for the cost, it’s fine… What’s not fine, and I blame myself for not catching it, is that there’s no anti-rotation tabs, to keep the rail aligned. It relies solely on, what could be worst barrel nut, I’ve ever used! If you don’t clock it right, you can’t get the gas tube into the receiver. 4 tiny screws and a weirdly shaped tab that fits in the grooves of the barrel nut, is the only thing keeping it from spinning out of alignment. I’m kicking myself, a little, for settling with this rail, for the sole purpose of matching my Mk 2 Griffin lower. So far, it’s been pretty solid, but it’s that little itch you can’t scratch. It’s going to bug me, until I get something else. Griffin! If you’re reading this, PLEASE address it. Anti-rotation tabs are kinda the norm. Again, I expect better.
