If you have an Optimus, then this thing is great and you know why. I don't understand why other reviews complain about thread protectors. The external threads will not be exposed when in use. (Neither will the internal ones) Maybe it's a bad stock photo.

Excellent fit and finish as always from Griffin. Pairs well with the Griffin minimalist taper mount. Wish it came with the thread protector. Had to wait weeks for the thread protector to be back in stock. Very satisfied with the product and would buy again for another build.

This is a great product, that goes well with all other Griffin products! Beware that the blast shield does not come with the thread protector, even though it is depicted in the picture. It was a surprise to me when I did not find the thread protector in the box that I received. With that being said, I will like the smaller size that this blast shield will make my optimus.

I bought this blast shield to run with an Optimus suppressor on an AR chambered in 7.62x39. As with all Griffin product the machining, fit and fishing are all outstanding. I would absolutely without hesitation recommend this product.

The minimalist blast shield is a great addition to my Optimus, and allows me run a shorter overall configuration. Great quality and precise machining. The blast shield also allows me to run on a short barrel length without compromising sound suppression.

I bought this to ultimately use with a Griffin Optimus on an AR build. The machining feels fantastic and the mount feels extremely solid. It mates cleanly with the Griffin taper mount flash comp and seats tightly. I haven't had a chance to take it out yet, so I can't comment on any performance characteristics.

There are some things that aren't obvious, however, that Griffin could improve on. First, it would be nice to have a compatibility matrix with different mil-spec firearms, suppressors, and the various mounting options Griffin offers. Griffin has changed their supported configurations but haven't always updated the manuals or documentation to reflect that.

After attempting to piece together which adapters work together I decided on the GA full sized flash comp, the Optimus, and this blast shield for primarily shooting .223, 5.56, and 22LR with plans to use the Optimus later with .300 blackout in the future. Through various comments and discussion this configuration seemed appropriate for a mil spec AR but when I received the blast shield a sticker on the box indicates that it only supports minimalist taper mounts for the Optimus. I'm hoping this means only in the cases where the additional rifle baffle is added, but the docs are unclear. This is hardly an exotic configuration (pretty mundane, really). It would really be nice to have some kind of tool to select a supported firearm and suppressor and get any supported mounting options and suppressor configuration. If not...

Finally got this for My Optimus and Resistance 22M. Now i can shoot .223 from my Resistance. Super fast shipping and easy to install onto my cans. I have several Griffin supressor and taper mount mds. Great performance and service on all! Highy recommend Griffin Armament!
