I am one of those who have optics on most all of my rifles. Most of them are scoped, a few have red dots or similar and the little notched barrel holders that are used on most safes are just not capable of allowing you to organize your long guns in an efficient manner. Rifle rods allow infinite placement of your rifles/shotguns within the space allowed without having to use the normal barrel holders that are used on most safes, around the upper edges of the storage area. Using the Rifle Rod kit from OP, I am able to place the long guns in any position within that mounting area, allowing for maximum utilization of the available space and the ability to pack more long guns into a storage section of the safe than I would otherwise be able to if I had to lean all of the barrels into the slots provided by the safe mfr.

If you are only storing long guns without optics of some type, you may not need them, but if you are like me and like to have some enhanced sighting capability on your long guns, Rifle Rods are a must! Installation is a snap, I just stapled the velcro to the underside of the shelf where the long guns will reside, had enough material to do both sides of my safe and the 10 rods are adequate for most owners collections and additional rods are available for a meager cost.
