I received this bare upper yesterday and pulled my 8" 9mm barrel off of a multi cal upper and installed it to this one. Threads were nice and all edges are smooth. I use midwest industries handguards and the anti rotation wings that extend onto the sides of most receivers will not allow the handguard to be installed. I cut the extended tabs off of the back of my handguard, filed it flush to the top rail and it installed nicely after that. I use a red dot that attaches to both the upper receiver and the handguard rail so that will do the job of preventing the handguard from moving but if I used a farther back set optic or irons I would have been a little frustrated and worried about stability. The description is also not accurate as it states "designed as a bolt action rifle" and "This upper also features an adjustable gas block" which it clearly does not be 9mm barrels do not utilize a gas block at all. I purchased it anyway because I am experienced enough to know this was not accurate and I was making any adjustments to get it running. Overall it is a nicely machined piece and I am happy with the final assembly just be aware of what you are looking at and be ready to modify a hand guard that is not flush on the back with the top rail.

Very beefy upper. It is so beefy that it is larger than the mil-spec buffer tube mount. Unfortunately, it is not milled to accept handguards that overlap the sides of the upper. The outside of the handguard I tried to install, was flush with the upper. Fits tight to lower.

I was a little skeptical at first but this thing fits great. Hardly any gap in the lower and upper. Everything went together very easy. I recommended to a friend and he is in the process of building his.

Very nice piece, heavy duty as well, Gunter USA is an underrated company, all the receivers Ivw got by them fit tight with 80%lowers,, no fitment issues, just as good of quality as many 2-3x like expensive brands parts, and I have a decent collection of high end custom rifles, I've bought allot of various high end parts, and I would buy these guy's parts any day. You can build high quality rifleswith guntec USA components, at a great price, well worth it
