Most Helpful Negative Review Barrel nut is VERY low quality
The handguard itself is ok, but the barrel nut and wrench that came with it is extremely low quality. when going to toque the nut the supplied wrench cut into the soft barrel nut aluminum. This did not come with directions so I didn't know what to set my torque wrench to, but when I barely got any toque on it at all, the nut split. I sent it back to Optic Planet for a refund.

Solid piece of gear

This free floated hand guard proved to be one of the best I could get at the price point. The mounting screws that mate the tube to the barrel nut are tough and provide positive thread engagement. The barrel nut itself provides loads of mounting holes that give you the ability to tighten the nut perfectly without having to over or under tighten should you choose to avoid shimming.

Pros: fit, finish, price

Cons: barrel nut looked to be used (someone rounded a few edges) and did not fit my standard ar wrenches.

I was happy but disappointed at the same time when the item arrived based on the notes above. I was in a time crunch so on it went. Modified my cheap barrel wrench to fit but that started to open and round the barrel nut. In the end, a little patience and finesse save me a good amount and looks great on my AR9 build

Save your money!

I bought this to save a couple ounces. A complete waste of a hundred bucks or so. Very poor quality rail in comparison to all my other brands of rails. It fits looser than id like on the cheap barrel nut, the rail has excessively large mounting holes in comparison to the nut. once mounted there is a hideous gap between rail and receiver.

Guntec Slimline Octagonal M-Lok Handguard

Rail and nut are made from aluminum and are well made and anodized. Comes with shims and no special tool required, designed to be used with an adjustable wrench instead of something proprietary. Rail with nut weighed 8 ounces or 226.8 grams.

Great Rail

This is my third Guntec USA rail and they've all been great so far. The new octagonal lightweight design lives up to the hype, it is insanely light. Super easy to install with everything you need to get the job done included for a reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Great product but...

Handguard is light and feels great. I would have given it 4 stars but it took 4 weeks to get the product and when it finally arrived it came with no directions or specs of installing properly. I had to call guntec for these. It also came out of the package with a large paint chip which also was very frustrating. Overall, product is great, but I will probably never buy anything from this website again due to the paint chip, no installation directions and prolong delivery time. It also came with a barrel nut wrench that seemed to be thrown in and didn't do the job.

Guntec USA Ultra Slimline Octagonal 5 sided M-Lok Free Floating Handgaurd

So far so good I haven't had a chance to use it yet due to the fact that I'm still waiting on my new gas block, but it feels and look great. A little more slim than i thought, but feels good in the hand very comfortable. Great hand guard for the price.
