Well Made Product, but will need Tweeking During Install
This handguard is ultra-light as advertised, because it is thin. I used it to assemble an AR pistol. It will not be subjected to the stress as it would have had I used it on a carbine. However, I see no reason that this handguard will not perform as designed. How strong it will be is subjective....

Great rail for the price!
The rail fit perfectly on my 7 inch barrel build. I would give it 5 stars because it is of good quality and is very lightweight. However it took over 3 weeks to receive it. Optics planet puts this on their website but didn’t have it on hand. It showed it was in stock and then I received an email saying it would take some time to get it to me. This isn’t the first time this has happened with optics planet. It is a great rail. Just be prepared to wait for it if you decide to purchase it.

It worked Prefect
It worked perfectly for my 458 socom pistol. The only thing I wish it came with was a rail to mount a light or a grip other then that it's great. it fit the barrel length so only the muzzle break stuck out past the end as I wanted it to do.

Good for my build
So far it has been a quality economical rail for my AR9 build. With a blowback build, there was no gasblock alignment to worry about so no need for the included shim and go easy on the torque but the included nut seemed of good quality. The rail itself mounted easily with my only small gripe being that the rail was slightly different then the one on my Anderson upper. Do recommend using Loctite or appropriate locking washer when installing the rail.

Looks great however some issues
Bought for a new pistol build. The price was good and the length was what I needed. So, I made the jump. When i received the item it appeared solid. Install was a pain. No tools or instructions came with the handguard. The barrel nut will not torque with a regular armour wrench. I had to use a adjustable wrench and when trying to get atleast 40 ft lbs in the holes would not line up. With and without shims. So, I stripped the he'll out if the outside surface if the barrel nut. I've built about 20 rifles in over a year and never struggled like it did with this one. By no means any fault of optics planet. If this product was 30 dollars less I would expect difficulty. Hope this helps if your in the market for a Gun tec handguard.

ok not the best
Not too bad for the money but no way to torque the barrel nut with the way it is made unless you make a special crows foot or grind one down. company says to use a cresent wrench which I do not like. My Low profile Adjustable clamp on gas block does not fit with out grinding the ribs down inside the handguard.

Lightweight quality @ affordable
Purchased this for a dedicated .22lr build to be my daughter's training rifle. It is compact and very light but seems plenty strong. Barrel nut was not milspec wrench compatible, so keep that in mind, I used a regular crescent wrench on the flats.

Thin IS IN
These make for a very streamlined look and feel. They install easily and are ascetically pleasing the included barrel nut is able to be done with common tools crescent wrench finish is even and durable. I would definitely recommend this product. They include barrel shims to be added so orientation of nut is correct for alignment of screw holes so that the top rail aligns with the receiver. I use a long base to hold this alignment while tightening the screws that attach the handguard to the barrel nut. The final assembly is solid and very nice handling.

Great product
Bought this rail for my AR build and I couldn't be happier. Fits nicely with my upper and matches my other FDE pieces as well. Took a little while to get to me so don't be in a hurry and expect this in a week. Overall would recommend this product to anyone wanting a cheap price but a bit so cheap product. Very happy

Definitely Not Great
It's nothing special. It's not horrible, but I guess it could work for a budget build or a range gun. The "FDE" color is a little off if you are nitpicky about that sort of stuff. I don't really care.

Guntec ultra thin key mod
This is my second Guntec hand guard. This one will be install on my new build. 7.5" 556 pistol build. I selected Guntec because it is well build and extremely easy to install. Excellent product and I recommend it.
