I recently acquired a tactical shotgun with a 19" barrel, which necessitated a gun safe or locker for secure storage. I chose the TacVault Biometric for the ease and security of its locking mechanism: I can literally get at the shotgun in a second. It takes up very little room in my closet. This is a gun "locker" and not a "safe" because it is relatively portable at 80 lbs. It does come with bolts and holes which allow you to bolt it to the foundation or to a stud in the wall. It is very effective for what it is designed to do.

Due to a shipping error, I was initially sent a TacVault with a keypad lock. That first locker had a shelf that could be removed. I don't know if the removable shelf was intentionally designed that way. OpticsPlanet corrected the shipping mistake, including a pick-up of the original product from my home. The shelf in the biometric vault has been welded into place. While it is a good place to store a handgun and/or ammunition, its position is just low enough that I cannot "rock" the shotgun out of the safe: if I reach in and try to tilt the shotgun out from under the shelf, the tip of the barrel scrapes the underside of the shelf and gets caught. If I keep the shotgun angled while I pull it out of the vault, then I can remove it cleanly. I am concerned that the fixed shelf will prevent a DMR like an AR-10 with a 20" barrel from fitting inside. Minus one star for this.

Great home defense safe. Biometric lock is easy to use and allows access to weapons quickly. Due to height of unit, it's easiest to set the code with a thumbprint. The door is a little narrow so you have to be careful not to bang some weapons on it while removing them. Top shelf is a nice addition, though things placed to the rear of the shelf are difficult to get to in a hurry. Product description says that it can fit two rifles. With some planning, you can fit close to 5.
Pros: Easy set-up, biometric lock is quick, more room than expected
Cons: Door is a little narrow and things on back of top shelf aren't easy to access
