Most Helpful Positive Review Great boots
I would put them on the same level as kenetrek and crispi. Seem to be really well made, only change I would recommend is a better insole. I replaced mine with a more custom one, the green ones... I normally wear a regular width boot, but the wide model fits me good. I had read they run a bit narrow.

Never again Hanwag

by Teddy, from CA, United States Written on October 13, 2021
Summary: all soles fall off after appr. 7 years, customer service disastrous (response after two weeks) denying any responsibility for their faulty work, demanding address in Germany for assistance, boots are super heavy (old fashioned designs).
After the sole of my Alaska GTX came off after 7 years (sole medium worn), I sent my boots to Hanwag for resoling asking for sole for alpine trekking (snow and rocks). The sole they put on slips terribly on snow, I even had an accident with 5 weeks healing. Hanwag rendered my boots dangerous and so useless. Customer service denies any responsibility, makes vague guesses and demands an address in Germany to deal with my issue.
Beyond this, Hanwag insists on heavy leather boots – competition makes much lighter boots with better durability. My other Hanwag, Banks got a hole in it when I mildly kicked into a root. So I gave away my useless Alaska GTX for free, scrapped the Banks too, and bought a Scarpa Zodiac Plus instead.

Excellent Boot

by Dusty, from WY, United States Written on November 28, 2017
After reading some other reviews I bit the bullet and ordered these boots; very sturdy & well built. The reviews mentioned these not being true to size I opted to go the wife and a 1/2 size larger (normally a 12 got a 12.5 wide). Wore them around the house for a day to make sure they were sized correctly etc. For the next week I proceeded to wear every day minimum of 10 hours no issues or hot spots mostly around my property and in town; one day in the mountains for a short hike. For me a very comfortable boot that met all expectations so far. Bought as backcountry boots for hunting, as good or better as others in the higher price ranges; very much worth the money. I will caution those who normally wear a wide boot....these aren’t not for you as they would be far too narrow. My foot is slightly wider than a regular foot but a higher instep...the wide is good for me as the regular would’ve been too narrow which translates into painful in the backcountry under load!!! So if you are Bigfoot when it comes to width these would be a no go for you. Looking forward to putting some miles on these great boots.
