Kay's Review of Hawke Sport Optics Endurance ED Spotting Scope 12-36x50 Straight

Before I buy this scope, I have already had Endurance ED 20-60x85 scope and very pleased with the performance. However, I just feel the size of the scope is just too big and heavy to be brought in daily use, especially to be used in my regular archery practice. For that I need smaller scope with lighter mass weight but of course don’t want to compromise the quality of the lens. After doing quite a research, to get balance on functionality, quality and of course the price, finally my choice went to (again!) Hawke Endurance ED 16-36x50.
Tested it in my 50m compound practice, I found this scope performs very well just like my previous stronger power scope. Image is sharp and vivid. In 20x magnification we have already been able to see texture of the surface of my 6 rings target. Tried looking different object in longer distance, up to approximately 200m, the scope still perform well and provide details in maximum magnification. The objective lens cover is attached to the scope with rubber on the sun shade which kind of advantage since you don’t have to worry to lose it.
But what I like most of this scope is its lightweight and compact construction. Now I can just put the scope into my backpack and go without any worries with the weights even when I’m on trekking.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • ED glass
  • Stay on body cover
  • compact construction
  • Stay on lens cover
Cons:
  • Eye piece covers not attached to the body.
Best Used for:
  • archery
  • Mid range scoping
