Boutique handguard
I bought this handguard for a 18" barrel DMR build. In a world of Mlok/Keymod/Picatinny rails, the leather gives this product an earthy, organic vibe. However, time will tell if the leather lasts in the elements.
Pros:
- Well machined. I couldn't find one tooling mark.
- Lightweight and slim profile
- Anodizing is uniform and very durable. Barrel nut appears to be black nitride
Cons:
- Front end has only one MLOK slot on the bottom, forward of the leather. Most pic rail or sling swivel adapters require two. Midwest Industries makes a single slot adapter.
- Because it's built to be light, it flexes too much if the bipod is installed at the muzzle end of the handguard. My gas block contacts the sling adapter MLOK tee nuts
- Anti-rotation tabs only compatible with forged, milspec upper receivers. I had to remove the to install the handguard on a Sharps Bros. billet upper receiver.
- Barrel nut flats are a non standard size (29mm/1-3/16"). I prefer to use a torque wrench but had to settle for a large Ford wrench instead
Best Used for:
- Range toy/plinker. Too much flex for serious use.
