Malcolm 3x scope on Little Sharps

by Wayne, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on October 16, 2025
I ordered the Malcolm 3X scope on October 4 and received it on October 10. I planned to install it on my .22lr Little Sharps. The Little Sharps has been drilled and tapped to install a scope but I was not sure the Malcolm would fit the predrilled holes. Well, when I went to install it, it fit perfectly! I removed the screws in the Little Sharps and screwed in the scope blocks with no problem. The scope blocks are attached with 6x48 screws. I slid the scope onto the blocks and tightened the front and rear crossbolts. It was ready to go in less than 5 minutes. I have used it twice since installation. For normal eye relief on the Little Sharps it extends past the receiver and breech block, which leaves very little room to insert and remove the cartridge. So, I moved the scope forward to where the end of the eyepiece is just in front of the breech block by about 1/8 inch. This makes the loading area of the Little Sharps clear. The downside is that it reduces the size of the image in the scope. The view is about the same as the view through a peep sight. In firing the rifle, the image was clear, it was easy to adjust the focus of the eyepiece to enhance the crosshairs, and it held zero. It was very easy to hit official NRA 50 yard targets and I was able to hit 3 tens and two nines. I expect it will continue to give good service as I become more familiar with it.
Pros:
  • easy to install on Little Sharps, holds zero, clear image
Cons:
  • Obstructs loading area of Little Sharps if using normal eye frelief
Best Used for:
  • target shooting and hunting squirrels
