Most Helpful Positive Review Most Reliable Revolver Loader
I bought a pair of these years ago and lent them to a buddy who forgot to return them. I will be ordering one or two more from OP. I have used the Safariland loaders also. Safariland speed loaders may be slightly faster, but they are a bit less dependable. The HKS use gravity and the Safariland use a spring, which gets finicky every once in awhile. If you prefer a loader that uses the KISS principle, then the HKS is the way to go.

innexpensive, yet effective.

Ultimately this product will be a training tool for me as I have found speed strips to be better for my individual use. HOWEVER, this comes after testing multiple manufacturers speed loaders and I have found the HKS to be at an excellent cross section of value/cost and performance.

Light, compact, and preferable to moon clips for reliability. Cartridge lock up is superior to most and when activated cartridges drop freely. YMMV, but failure to have cartridges drop free is probably going to be interference between the revolvers stocks (i.e., “grips”), your hand, and the angle of attack of the rounds entering the cylinder. This can be especially problematic with J-frame and similar sized revolvers due to the relative size of the crane.

Enjoyable to use with L-frame and larger revolvers. I would pay more for a high-vis version rather than wrapping mine in green tape to make easier to find when dropped on the range.

Good speed loader for your wheel gun.

by Chuck, from TX, United States Written on June 21, 2023
Works well for my ankle gun, S&W 337 PD. Trained to quick reload, which is efficient compared to single loading. Normally carry a higher capacity EDC pistol w/ spare mag but nice to have at least one reload available for my backup.

Defective speedloader

by Al, from CT, United States Written on January 11, 2021
I bought 3 of these HKS, 7 shot, .357 speedloaders. This one is missing the bearing which secures the retention ratchet. It is useless. Please let me know how to have it replaced. I'm not too keen on the other 3. They feel sort of cheap and I'm worried they'll fail.

S&E 27-2 speedloader

by CRAIG DAVIS, from PA, United States Written on August 9, 2020
Only good for keeping 6 rounds close. Outside diamerer not large enough for 27-2. Tips of bullets get pushed toward center and bind in loader. Not speedy.

Necessary for speed loads

by Mark Johnson, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on May 24, 2017
Bought to reload a 1955 S&W Highway Patrolman. Gun has Standard grips. not target model. Works fine but must practice to build speed and muscle memory. Custom grips may interfere with reloading. Need to find a pouch that keeps the loaders secure and upright.
Best Used for:
  • Firepower
