Hogue AK47 Forend
Very nice feel and look on my Serbian Zastava N-PAP. I did need to use the Dremel on the top half to shave it down a bit to make it fit over the gas tube but I figured it would require a little work as there are so many different variances with these AK rifles.
Took me all of 5 minutes to do it. Ju...

don't use with the rails.
I bought this as it was highly rated and came with rails that i could use without looking to tacticool. the handguard without the rails is nice and comfortable with the rubberized coating. when i put the rails on however, the plastic started to split along the molding seams. do not use at all with t...

Great fit, great buy
Looks great, fits well great buy for the money, would recommend to anyone looking for this item

awesome part, preserves the classic look
I got this for my Yugo AK to replace the wood furniture. It fits with a little dremel work, and has a nice feel to it while preserving the classic AK look. Felt great at the range, heat shield does its job.
Pros:
- Feel, quality, looks
Cons:
- a little dremel work to fit
Best Used for:
- modern materials with a classic look
Would recommend: Yes
just the look I wanted
Ordered this after I had installed a UTG hand guard. The UTG hand guard was top quality, but it just didn't look like an AK47 anymore. This hand guard keeps the original look, with a modern touch. I had to do a little Dremel work for it to fit my Yugo, but well worth a little extra effort. I'm really pleased with the look and feel.
Pros:
- looks, feel, durability
Cons:
- needs some grinding to fit certain models
Best Used for:
- modern upgrade with classic looks
Would recommend: Yes
yugo m70 build
I've had two other hand guards on my M70 the SLR rifle works 13.7 yugo ( which I cannot recommend due to the weight alone without even utilizing the mlok and rail) and the normal oak hand guard. The Hogue forend occupy's a happy medium between the the comfort and practicality( mounting slots suck don't use them
Pros:
- None
Cons:
- rail
Would recommend: Yes
Don’t Buy bad design
Feels good in the hand, but mlok slots are not standard AR15 and the picatiny rails are plastic. In order to access slots below you actually have to cut the rubber away and then attach those plastic rails.
Pros:
- None
Cons:
- Non standard
- Non standard mounting of picatinny rails
Would recommend: No

don't use with the rails.
I bought this as it was highly rated and came with rails that i could use without looking to tacticool. the handguard without the rails is nice and comfortable with the rubberized coating. when i put the rails on however, the plastic started to split along the molding seams. do not use at all with the bottom rail. If used without the rails it is a good product. but if something is advertised to work in a certain way I believe it should. this does not and I cannot recommend for anyone that wants to put attachments on the handguard.
Pros:
- solid
- Comforatble
- Fits well
Cons:
- plastic split with bottom rail
Best Used for:
- basic build
Would recommend: No

Just save up for a better forend
I was excited about this forend and finally thought I'd avoided having to save up a ton of money for a high-end aluminum one. I like Hogue products, so I thought it would be a win. It was not.
*NOT MLOK FRIENDLY - While the holes in the handguard line up with MLOK accessories, you will have to use the proprietary screws that came with this kit (smaller diameter than MLOK screws), which will not jive well with standard MLOK rails. It is much easier to use the provided rails and screws, except they are made of plastic. While light-weight, I do not trust them very much. I might mount a flashlight on them, but not a vertical grip. Which leads me to...
*NOT STURDY - When finally fitted properly to the firearm (minor filing required for M70 NPAP), this grip has a lot of flex to it...more than I would expect or want. It isn't nearly as bad if you're not accessorizing the bottom portion, but if you plan on mounting a vertical grip of any kind to this forend it will NOT feel solid. That being said, at least it was comfortable before mounting anything to it.

Good to go.
Grip is comfortable and disapates heat pretty good. Had to modify slightly to fit on my npap under-folder. I in addition installed a Mid west railed has tube and had no issues with clearence tightening up the set screws.

Hogue handguard
Top portion did not fit. Very loose and easily twisted off. I like the hogue grip and buttstock and was hoping this would fit. Optics planet made the return easy and painless with free return shipping.
Pros:
- None
Cons:
- Too Small

Perfect Fit
The hand grip was a perfect fit on my Yugo Zastava PAP M90NP. You have to pay attention to which way you put the gas tube cover on. One way the slots line up with the lower hand guard the other way they do not. The rails are a plastic/polymer material.
