It's a Hogue stock. I happen to like the rubberized grip better than the standard plastic stock. However, I'm sure that's an individual thing. I also like the contrast between the matte black finish of the 870 and the FDE stock. That's a combination that I like, again an individual thing. You will need a ratchet or screwdriver extension to tighten the bolt -- attaching the butt stock.
Pros:
- rubberized coating
- Color contrast - flat black and FDE
- coolness factor - if that's important to you
Cons:
- extension to tighten bolt -- orignial stock doesn't require this
