Excellent fit on 870 youth model
The wood stock on my 870 youth shotgun was failing due to harsh conditions of the duck marsh. I first tried to use Hogue model 08737, which is the shorter unit. This reduced my stock length by 1.5 inches. I then ordered this item, Hogue model 08717. This increased my length of pull by 1/2”, but I can live with that. You will not believe how nice this set is!

I ordered the adult sized hogue stock to put on my youth model 870 20 guage. Length of pull in now correct and the gun is much easier to use. Thanks!

Great replacement stock
Stock and forarm fit fine on REM 870 Express 20 gauge youth model. Instructions seem to be a mix of Remington and Mossberg. More confusing than helpful. A little common sense goes a long way. Use a 1-1/8 inch spade bit for the forearm. Seems like a good value.

This is a compact Stock. 13.5 inch Lop
Like the quality, fit my ‘90s 870 scaled 20ga receiver, however the Length of Pull is 13.5”, not the typical adult length of 14”-14.5”.
Secondly, the stock bolt used to attach to the receiver was an half- inch short when using the black spacer included. The receiver nut extends 1/2-3/4 inch from the back of the receiver. I needed to purchase a 6” bolt in the 1/4 x 28 threads to make it work. The OEM Remington stock bolt is too long for the Hogue stock.

Great product
Hogue makes great sticks and grips. This is no exception. Works great for youth and smaller frames shooters. Keep a good grip on the stock even when cold and wet. Great product at a fair price.

synthetic stock, conditional thumbs up
This is my first experience with a synthetic stock on a shotgun. I had a 20 ga Rem 870 express youth model with the short wood laminate stock that I bought for the grandkids to shoot, but then decided I wanted to shoot it occasionally at skeet. This product seemed like the most economical method of making it suitable for a full size adult. I'm not impressed with the synthetic stock feel while shooting. I really wish I had spent the extra money and found a wood stock. As for the product, it is fine, just don't enjoy the feel, The overmoulded grip design does feel pretty good to the hand, I would probably really dislike the synthetic design without it. I did not and probably will not install the for-end but be aware in order to mount it on the pump action it will take a special tool (not included) for installation. Overall fair value but I am apparently a genuine wood kinda guy.

Quality with quirks
Overall nice quality. Nice length of pull for me. I am 6’ 3”. Fit up to the receiver was okay but not perfect. I have a mag tube cap with a sling swivel and the forearm contacts that piece, so I had to machine a little bit of material off the cap.

This is wayyy better than the the OEM forend and stock setup. Super easy to install. One bolt for stock and one nut for the forend. There are 2 models. I was unable to find the loa for one of those after alot of searching on the internet. I will say the model 08717. From the adapter to the butt of the stock is 13”. So it is the longer setup. I really hope that saves someone some time searching around in the web. By the

Exactly what I needed
Bought an 870 in 20 gauge for my wife, and the factory length of pull was way too long for her. I bought this hoping it’d fix the problem and it did. Product was great and easy to install and Optics Planet was quick to ship it.
