Most Helpful Positive Review Fantastic Grip; highly recommended!
I purchased this grip for my Ruger LCR in 9mm, which is my EDC weapon. The stock grip was ok, but it was too short for me to get a full grip and the rubber was not optimal for pocket carry. I kept going back and forth between the smooth version of this grip and the piranha version, which I decided...

Most Helpful Negative Review Piranha Grip for Ruger LCR
purchased grips for LCR 9mm. grip look and texture were as described, but too narrow for my large hands. much more of the recoil was felt versus the original Hogue Tamer grip that comes on the gun. i'm guessing partly due to the grip feeling to small in my hand. might feel more comfortable on a smal...

Should Be LCR Standard Grips...

by ckgunne, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on August 17, 2025
Shooting the Ruger LCR chambered in .357 magnum is a handful to say the least. Stock rubber Hogue grips do not accommodate full hand access making follow-up shots and active control of this lightweight hand canon quite a challenge. Changed out the stock hogue 2-finger rubber for Pachmayr rubber. The Pachymayrs were too squishy resulting in similar control issues, especially with hand perspiration. THESE! Superb full-hand grip with excellent control making follow-up shots more accurate. Solid black looks outstanding on the LCR matte black frame too. Definitely recommend and should be the grips the LCR ships with.

Great not perfect

by zeed, from MI, United States Written on March 17, 2023
The fit is a bit off but not at all a problem, it was modified to fit LCR and LCRX, I have the LCR so there is a slight gap, it doesn't affect function just appearance. It looks amazing, and feels good in the hand. It is slim and makes concealment much better and clothes don't bunch on it. The problems are shooting with it. This grip is small (as intended) so you don't get the hand full, but again this is intended its a sacrifice for concealment. The texture is as it's name sake. It will chew and grind at your flesh like a hungry piranha. Good luck getting through a box of +P at the range. Also it can dig into your flesh holstered. So I took some 400 grit sandpaper and lightly sanded off the tips of the texture. That made a world of difference. Be careful though it sands quickly. This grip is awful for range time, but amazing for concealment. Also it's just beautiful on the black LCR especially in a tan leather pancake holster.
Pros:
  • COncealment, Close to the body
Cons:
  • rough texture
Best Used for:
  • Conceal and carry

Great for secure grip

by Florida Man, from FL, United States Written on February 7, 2023
Put one of these on my LCR 9mm, after trying a couple of boot style grips. I fine-tuned the thumb contour with some sandpaper, and it fits my hand perfectly. The agressive texture is well-suited for the year-round humidity here in Florida.

Perfect fit

by BallisticOpossum, from VA, United States Written on March 4, 2019
Fit, finish, quality, etc... are perfect. These grips look fantastic also. Be sure to get the ones with the piranha texture, the others are too slick. Only downside is these grips sting a bit when you shoot!
Best Used for:
  • concealed carry

Ruger lcr hogue piranha grip

by Pip, from KY, United States Written on January 8, 2018
Very good grip even though it’s more expensive than other aftermarket grips. Has a 3 finger groove grip rather than the 2 finger groove grip that comes with it, which feels better in the hand and gives better control.

Too expensive for discomfort

by Unhappy, from WV, United States Written on September 16, 2017
I bought this grip for my wife. I ended up being more grey than pink. The texture on the back strap is very rough, and uncomfortable when you fire. It feels like somebody is running a rasp on your hand. The grip is hard, and harsh.
Pros:
  • Appearance
Cons:
  • Uncomfortable
  • hard
Best Used for:
  • throwing at somebody
