Excellent!
I own four other HE507C sights, two of them with the Vulcan ACSS reticle and two with the multiple reticle system, and I wanted the forward facing brightness sensor for one of my carry guns.
Until I had the X3 in my hand and was able to compare it to the older models I though that was the only real difference, but there are two additional improvements that are nice to have.
The first is the larger window with a rectangular shape rather than a curved top. It's not a huge difference, but it is noticeable and provides a less restricted view of your target and the surrounding area.
The second is the slightly concave front of the housing, which will make it easier to perform one-handed reloads and malfunction clearances using your belt or another edge if that should become necessary.
The forward facing light sensor seems to work well. I am at an indoor range at least once per week, where the shooting position has overhead lights and the downrange target can be in a somewhat dark spot depending on where the target is in relation to the sparse range lighting. While the older HE507C sights do OK, they are fooled by the overhead lights and often wind up with a dot that is too bright for the lighting of the target. The X3 doesn't have that problem. It's an auto brightness feature that actually works well.
