Brett M's Review of Holosun HS510C 1x0.91-1.2in Open Reflex Red Dot Sight

I read countless reviews on this website, competitor websites, Amazon, and even watched a handful of YT videos about Open Reflex Sights. I thought I was making a sound decision considering all the features this has for a $300.00 price tag. I used a US Army M4 Carbine 25m target to zero. My shooting buddy has an Aimpoint and zeroed his in 9 rounds. He and I are about equal marksmen. After 15 rounds--5 sets of 3 shots, I wasn't even hitting the 8.5"x11" piece of paper. My buddy tried as well and still couldn't hit the silhouette. I even walked up to 7m and fired unsupported and NONE of the 6 rounds landed on the paper! Thinking, perhaps, it was me, I tried his. I put 3 near or in the silhouette.

Three striking differences is that he does not have an Iron backup sights while I have the Magpul BUS (plastic of course), the A2 front post and mine being an M&P 15 Sport II while his was a Ruger. Distances, shooting platform, weather and skill ability were all equal. I would not recommend this for anyone who find it difficult to align their eye in the center of the tempered glass lens as my view always showed the the red dot right and usually low. I tried correcting my sight alignment and still had no luck hitting paper--let alone the target. I am really disappointed since it has tons of features--3 reticle choices, solar powered with battery backup, QD mount, shake awake feature, 10 brightness levels, and a separate Titanium "cover" that protects the lens in the event it is dropped. Sadly, these features are of no use when one cannot zero the d**m sight!
