E Rocket's Review of Holosun Paralow HS515CU Micro Red Dot Sight with Solar Power

I really like this optic for several reasons. 1) This is not a red dot like an RMR so if you suffer from astigmatism to the extent a red dot sight looks like a comet or a pile of scrambled eggs, you should consider this holographic sight. It produces a crisp 2 moa dot with a 65 moa circle reticle that makes target acquisition very fast. 2) I like the "shake awake" feature that puts the optic to sleep but turns it on when it senses motion. I mounted this on a home defense weapon so if I need it in the middle of the night, I only need to pull it from its resting place and the optic is on. 3) I like the auto brightness feature but it's not ideal for all situations. If you're standing in a dark area the small solar panel detects low light and dims the reticle; the opposite for a well-lit area. This means that if you're standing in a shaded or dark area and aiming into a well-lit area the reticle may not be bright enough. In conditions like this, you will need to use the manual mode to adjust the reticle brightness. 4) I like the loooooonnnnnggg battery life that comes with having a solar panel. 5) I like the kill-flash and the integral lens caps; nice "value-add" items. 6) I like the circle dot reticle. I honestly don't know when I'd only want to have just the dot or just the circle. The combination is perfect for fast target acquisition and the dot is small enough to not obscure a target out to 150 yds or so. 7) I like the lower 1/3 co-witness with iron sights.
