Great sight! sight = 5 stars; overall purchase = 3 stars (details below) - Holosun HE507C 2 MOA Dot & 32 MOA Circle Reflex Red Dot Sight

The sight itself is great! This is my first red dot on a pistol, and I am very happy with it. I am cross eye dominant and having a red dot makes it much easier to shoot with both eyes open. I really like the multiple reticle options. Currently, I have it set with both the 2 MOA dot and 32 MOA circle -- I think this is great setup for home defense / concealed carry. The dual reticle also helps you find the reticle when presenting the firearm; this is particular useful for individuals who may be new to red dot sights on pistols. Additionally, I really like the solar panel, which enables the sight to run even if the battery is dead, and the shake-awake technology. The benefits to the shooter that the extended battery life Holosun achieves by utilizing these features should not be underestimated. Many red dot sights, like this one, require you to remove the sight from the slide to change the battery. Doing so means you have to reinstall and re-zero the sight. Because of the extended battery life that this Holosun offers, this is much less of a concern. (Note: The new version of the Holosun 507c addressed this concern further by relocating the battery to the side of the sight; however, many other brands still have the battery located on the underside of the sight and offer drastically less battery life.) Additionally, the + and - buttons on the sight are quite small. I have difficulty finding the buttons without looking at them, but this may improve with practice. (Note: This issue is also addressed on the newest version of the sight.)

As far as mounting the sight, I mounted it on a Glock 19 MOS (Gen 4) using the plates provided by Glock. The mounting process was very easy, but take your time because the screws can be easily cross threaded. I haven't tested the durability of the sight, i.e., drop tests, etc., because I paid for the sight and don't like trying to break expensive things for the fun of it. I have looked at reviews by other individuals who have though and everything seems to suggest that the sight is very durable. If I have any accidents or issues, I will update my review.

Lastly, my only gripe isn't with the sight, but with the fact that OpticsPlanet sent me a sight that was obviously used. It had a few small scratches and the battery was already installed. I did not notice any issues with the functionality of the sight, so I decided not to return it; however, I was disappointed since it was marketed as "new." To be fair, I should note that I purchased the sight on sale and did not pay full MSRP. Nevertheless, I would have more confidence in OpticsPlanet as a company if it had simply marketed the sight as "used" or at least "open-box."
