XOPATRIOT's Review of Holosun Paralow Circle Dot Sight with Mount

First thing is the notable features:
1. Years of battery life off of one battery
2. Solar serves two functions: reduces battery use / auto adjusts red dot brightness based on available light
3. Removable base, great for hunting rifles to reduce barrel to center sight
4. Built in lens caps swivel in any direction on a ball pivot.
5. The turret caps have a built in screwdriver to adjust your wind-age and elevation.
6. Very water resistant.
7. The locking mount is top notch in quality and design.
8. Size and weight: Very light and small but does not compromise on target acquisition.
9. The PRICE! This red dot should cost more than an Aimpoint because its of higher quality and features. I own an Aimpoint and prefer the Holosun over it. Brighter sight, better glass, easier target acquisition and you get a 65MOA circle along with the red dot (basically the EOTECH reticle) This sight does come along at a good time as well with the EOTECH lawsuit happening and their product quality being questioned.

I own 2 of this particular model. First one is on my Browning BLR 308 Takedown with scout mount (I have the red dot riser removed on this rifle). 300+ rounds of 308 after zero and still holds zero without having to adjust. I have banged this site around, treated it very poorly, accidentally dropped the sight off of a deer stand on the barrel side of my Takedown BLR while putting my rifle together.. lots of things that you would think would cause to break, or at least have loss of zero. Still works great! This is wonderful for hunting. I have it zeroed at 125 yards which gives me a "aim and shoot what I see on the dot" range of around 1.50 inches high or 1.50 low within 100. Perfect for woods, small clearing hunting. Anyone who uses a big bulky scope for hunting under 150 yards should really consider switching to a red dot.

Second sight is on my AR-15 (I left the riser mount on) 1500+ rounds and counting and still holds zero. The range I visit has plates at 150 yards and can plink repeatedly and a moderate pace from standing or prone. This is a run and gun firearm and sees lots of abuse. "Main reason for getting a cheap red dot" durability is high.

All in all a wonderful sight at a wonderful price point. I expect this would be considered a game changer in the fact EOTECH and AIMPOINT need to get their act together to compete with this manufacturer. The only thing I see Aimpoint having an advantage over is their sites are made from 1 solid piece of metal instead of forged like the Holosun. That's great and all but does it constitute the almost 3 times higher in price tag? If you get to the point of breaking the metal housing you are probably to the point of getting a new sight or putting in a warranty request..
