This is my second Holosun optic. My first one was an HS403C that I picked up on a whim at a local store when it was on sale. I threw it on my Ruger PC Carbine and was really impressed with it, so when I put together an AR Pistol for home defense and fast close range shooting I knew I wanted to try another Holosun on it. I absolutely love this thing, and it's an even better deal than my HS403C was.
The circle-dot reticle is very reminiscent of an EOtech. I used EOtech's pretty extensively in the Army, though, and I actually prefer this. The reticle is MUCH sharper than an EOtech, which tends to be quite fuzzy. Even better, while EOtech's have atrocious battery lives, the battery life on this thing is amazing. It literally lasts years. I've had one of these leaned up in the corner for months, and knowing that it will always come on when I grab it is very comforting.
The solar panel is more than just a gimmick. It works super well. You could easily run this thing without a battery during daylight. It's a pretty cool feature to have on a SHTF gun.
The built-in QD mount works excellently, and really shows what an awesome value this thing is. Even without removing the optic, back-up sights nicely co-witness in the lower third of the optic.
The lens covers included are well made, and wisely both flip downwards and rotate.
