Excellent optic. - Holosun Sub-compact HS507K-X2 1x 2 MOA Dot Red Dot Sights

I put this on a Sig P365X Macro. I researched this optic carefully before I bought it and I am very pleased. This is my EDC weapon and my vision is getting bad in my old age, so I had some specific requirements. I have used many types of optics in the military and LE, so I knew the good and bad. On my G43X that was my previous EDC, I had a Swampfox Sentinel, which I liked a lot, but it had some shortcomings; needed to have suppressor height iron sights to be seen through the optic, only one “dot” option (really not a shortcoming , but I wanted more options) and has to be removed to replace the battery (I’d been running the same battery for well over a year and a half without replacing it, but I didn’t want to have to remove it at some point). It was a great optic and it’s a good choice, I just wanted other options.

Mounting and fit: It fits into the optic cut out on the slide without needing an adapter plate. It secured easily with one of the two sets of screws provided. It sits inside the cut and doesn’t protrude over the edges of the slide.

Controls: Reticle selection and brightness adjustment was easy to do. The buttons for adjustments are recessed so as not to be accidentally bumped but are easy to feel and to manipulate, even with large fingers. Windage/Elevation knobs are easy to access and you can feel the “click” as you turn it. The battery compartment is easy to open and close as well.

Reticles/Red Dot and iron sight usage: The choice of three sighting points is great. I prefer the circle with dot in the center personally, but the plain dot and circle with no dot are great options. The dot is easy to pick up and not too large as to obscure the target. I find that the circle/dot combo was easiest for my eyes to pick up quickly and engage targets with. The 10 brightness levels will allow you to get the right brightness for whatever level of light you are in. I did not test the night vision compatibility as I don’t have access to NODS ( night observation devices) at the moment. I found a happy medium at setting 4, that is bright enough to see in bright sun, but dim enough not to wash everything out in total darkness. It’s easy to adjust up or down if needed one handed. After some practice, I could stay on target with both hands still on the weapon and with little change in grip, I could make adjustments with my left thumb ( I’m right handed). I didn’t have to make very many adjustments for windage/elevation and I was on target at 25m. There is a shallow cut to the rear of the optic that does allow you to see the top of your front sight through the optic and line your rear and front sight up. This was nice as I didn’t want to buy suppressor height iron sights as a backup. I don’t like using an optic on any weapon without backup iron sights. I could engage targets with little problem with the amount of front sight I could see. I put around 250-300 rounds through the pistol and the optic stayed on target.

Other stuff: It comes with two sets of screws for mounting, a battery, a lens cloth and a tool with a torque head on one end and screw driver on the other. This is all you need to mount it and make windage/elevation adjustments. Price was great from Optics Planet and the shipping was free and fast.

Cons: Nothing really as a con, but I wish it had the auto brightness feature like the Swampfox Sentinel. As stated above adjustments on the fly are pretty easy and with the 10 brightness levels, you can find a happy medium that will allow you to engage without adjustments, it’s just a nice feature to have.

I’m sold on this optic and Holosun. I’ll be getting a full size optic from them soon to add to my P229.
