The description of the slugs states that it is designed for smooth and rifled barrels. Upon receipt of the ammo the box states on both front and back "rifled barrels only" i dont own a rifled barrel shotgun...

Only for Rifled Barrels
These are pretty solid shells and I bought them under the impression they could be shot out of a smooth bore barrel, which it can but with almost no accuracy past like 10-15 yds in my experience. Shot at 25 yds and it went 4 inches up and to the left of the target I shot at. If you have a rifled 12g I’d say go for it as it does pack a punch but if not than just stick to other slugs that are meant only for smooth bore barrels.

Very good slugs
I zeroed these slugs in at 100 yds. They have a consistent grouping of 3 inches or less. I would trust them out to 150 yards for hog or deer. The price at Optics Planet was fabulous. 40% less than any competitor.
Pros:
- Long range for slug
- Accurate at long range for slugs
- Serious knockdown piower
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Hunting deer and hogs

Shoots like a rifle
I recently purchased a 12 GA Slug gun for hunting deer and hogs in a shotgun only area. I was led to believe that a shotgun shooting slugs was limited in range to about 75 yards and accuracy was poor past that. I zeroed these rifled slugs in at 100 yards. These rifled slugs shoot a 3 shot, 2 inch group at that range. I was impressed. I have put 150 yards as my doable range.
Pros:
- Accurate at long range
- Maintains energy at long range
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Deer and wild hogs

Used very effectively on 300lb Hogs
Used these on three 200-300lb boars. One shot was more than enough to take it down on the spot. Took 5 shots to sight in at 50 yards (after laser bore sighting at 10 yards). None of them had to be tracked because they pretty much dropped down instantly.
Pros:
- Great for hogs
Cons:
- kicks hard
Best Used for:
- medium to larger game

Rifled bore slugs
Yes, the description mentioned this was for rifled bore shotguns, but apparently I didn't pick up on it and bought it. I only have
a smooth bore Shotgun... so stuck with em. Might use them anyway in a pinch.
