Haven’t had a chance to shoot it, will update again after, but ordered and received it in less than a week. Looks good though after looking at it. I wish I had only ordered more. I am still waiting on other ammo I ordered weeks before this.

Dents. Dents everywhere
Purchased this from my LGS and out of the 2 open cases (40 rounds) 17 of them had dents in the casing I wouldn’t fire. The other 23 look ok, but I’m not going to shoot any of them. Too concerned about poor quality control with these glaring dents and case defects.
Makes gun go bang
500 rounds later no malfunctions whatsoever. If I had to take 55g to war this would be it.

The absolute best literal bang for the buck
Every time I see a box of Hornady Frontier I grab it because I know I’m going to get the best 5.56 for running drills on my AR-15. While I use them for practice shooting I know can also rely on them for accuracy too.

Extremely dirty ammo
I shot 450 rounds of this stuff and my AR was disgusting afterward.
So much carbon buildup I had to scrape it off, and so much residue and powder in it I was cleaning it forever.
I tried PMC X-Tac after and it was much cleaner, I barely had to clean it.
But PMC is made in Korea so I’ll be trying Fiocchi next because it’s made in the USA and I hear it’s very clean too.
Only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one is because it was accurate

Reasonably clean burning and consistent
Satisfactory performance (~ 2.50 MOA) at 150 yards at 4600’ through a 16“ 1:7 twist barrel using a bipod rest. Optics: EO Tech EPS3-4 with EO Tech G43.STS.

Good ammo fro the price
Had zero issues with this ammo. I took it to the range and went through the box: no malfunctions or stoppages. I recommend it if you plan on doing some shooting.

I've used the Frontier 5.56 for some years and have found it to be very reliable. The special price from Optics convinced me to stock up. Looking forward to going to the range without spending a fortune.

Quality and value
Hornady quality at a decent price and the pistol mat is great addition to the cleaning efforts or as a bumper pad at the range. I liked the 1911 exploded view and had looked for one previously without success.
