A must for quick changeovers
For quick changeovers on a Hornady LnL AP you're already using the LNL quick change bushings which enable you to keep your tuned-in reloading dies ready for the next session. For me, the largest time investment in a caliber changeover has been dialing in the powder drop. I have now purchased these Powder Drop Lower Assemblies for each of the pistol calibers I reload the most. I also use the PTX expanders along with a Powder Measure Stop and dedicate them to each caliber reloaded. This allows me to do case flaring as part of the powder drop cycle, thus opening a position for my powder cop. One other "trick" I've picked up is to dedicate Powder Measure Metering Inserts to each powder recipe I use.
I will admit that tuning in the combination of the Lower Assembly with the PTX Expander and Powder Measure Stop takes a fair amount of time and adjustment to get just right. However, once it is dialed in correctly, I get consistent powder charging (never seems to deviate by more than +/- 0.1 grain) and flaring. Assuming I keep my dies clean and all my bushings are locked down, I can go from an empty press to first complete cartridge in five minutes! The Powder Drop Lower Assembly was the last puzzle piece in getting to a quick, repeatable setup.
Final note here is that the picture shows a LNL quick change bushing along with the Powder Drop Lower Assembly. This is misleading as the bushing is NOT included. The lock ring is, however.
All in all, a great product which, along with the ...

Must have item for each caliber
This product is no different than the one that comes with your Horndady LNL progressive press. This and a metering insert are necessary for quick caliber changes. By having one of each for each caliber, it keeps you from having to constantly keep making adjustments when you switch calibers. This along with the LNL feature makes changing calibers very quick and easy. I tried it without buying extra lowers and inserts, and I always dreaded changing calibers because it took so long to make the adjustments for the proper powder drop. This is a must have item if you are reloading more than one caliber.
