Not good not to have one
Although these springs do well and run and run, till a casing goes sideways and kinks it, then no fun as the kink rotates around giving something else to watch...

Hornady Lock N Load AP Spring Case Retainer
The springs are nice for holding your cases in place and you can take the cases out really easy . But if you have trouble with one you need replacement on hand so you can get on with your reloading, I learned the hard way it takes a week to get them and I shooting 3 times a week and burn a lot of ammo .
