Howard Leight Impact Sport 22db only
I have 3 pairs of these for my family, and they only provide 22db NRR 22, if you shoot a .308 its at about 165db so you would still be in the ear damaging range, the only solution is to wear double protection, I wear the Howard Leight Max-1 foam plugs at NRR 33, plus I wear these Impact Sport Earmuff's NRR 22, with the volume turned up so I can hear others speak too, and still have decent hearing protection.
Disappointing
I haven't even put them through anything extreme just range use and some hunting and yet they've almost al had issues that make them incredibly unpleasant to use.
Between the ones I've bought through Optics Planet as well as other retailers I've now gone through 5 separate pairs. Four of which have had significant issues; such as, clicking, buzzing, static, one ear ceasing to function for periods of time. Their DB rating isn't that great and they're not very comfortable without replacing the foam ear pieces with an excellent aftermarket gel pad.
Which is a shame since when they're working properly they're generally very good!
You shouldn't have to say "when" though...
I will continue to use mine I still have until they're nonfunctional enough to warrant replacing them and when they get to that point Ill be searching amongst their competitors for replacements.

Perfect mix of sound cancellation and clarity
These earmuffs fit great, and are firm yet give you some wiggle room to adjust to your head size. The noise cancellation works like a dream, cancelling out the lower noises, but still allowing voices to be picked up rather easily. Also, they come with batteries!!

Can't beat it!
Great quality and performance for the money! I've had numerous of other brands that are more expensive and they are just as comfortable as any of them were. I have a total of 3 pairs now and would recommend them to anyone.

howard leigh electronic earmuff R-01530
pros: cost about 1/5th that of those replaced. Performance nearly par. lightweight and shallow design (muffs) allows proper cheek weld on rifle.
cons: the muffs hollow "place for your ear" is a bit shallow for large eared persons. some adjustment necessary for full seal especially at bottom; jawline. the headband/compression spring could be a bit stronger.
overall the product is completely adequate for the recreational shooter & especially helpful for those persons suffering hearing loss. Normal conversation possible while wearing!
