I tried these ear protectors instead of standard ear muffs style protectors. I found the noise reduction was acceptable with shotgun shooting and on par with the average ear muff style protector. The only annoying problem I had was that plastic bow piece that connects the two ear pieces tends to rub along your collar and conducts that sound to your ears.
