Very good for felling trees - Hults Bruk Atran Felling Axe

This is a good quality felling axe. I expect it will last a lifetime if cared for properly. I have two other Hults Bruk axes from their premium line, the Almike and the Aneby. The Altran is of the same quality but not same level of finish detail, edge not profiled as meticulously, handle not sanded smooth where contoured to fit the axe head, edge not as sharp. In other words, it’s a great axe but not as pretty. I bought the felling axe to do what the others could not do well, chop a full sized tree when a chainsaw is unavailable. This is not a splitting axe to make firewood. The axe face profile allows a deep cut across the grain of the tree. Forget removing chips of wood, this thing removed chunks. The profile of the axe face is thin, while perfect for felling, tends to bury itself in the end of a log instead of prying it apart. Use it for what is intended and you will be satisfied.
