This stern navigation light is superior in every way compared to the smaller (3 AAA light typically sold as pair with the red/green colored bow unit) self contained battery powered anchor/navigation light. This light it extremely well made and can easily handle being semi-permanently mounted absorbing the vibration and wind of trailering without the hassle of removal and storage. On my KaBoat (that stays inflated on its trailer when not on the water) which has a full array of electronics and lights, this is the only light that is not powered by either of the two deep cell 12 volt battery's on board, eliminating all power draw at anchor during overnight Catfish fishing trips.
