Most Helpful Positive Review Take a hike
These boots are great for walking as they are very comfortable. They really shine though when you are just sitting and it is really cold. They will keep you warm. The materials and construction are excellent and I look forward to many years of use.
Most Helpful Negative Review No good for Wyoming
Bought these for a Wyoming hunt.I wore these boots for 2 months here in Alabama getting in shape for my trip without any problems. When I got to Wyoming hiking in knotty grass and up and down hill terrain they absolutely destroyed my feet. I had blood under both toenails and actually lost one of my ...

Awesome boots!

by Sam, from ID, United States Written on February 24, 2023
Hi..I'm a 58 year old man.i've hunted my whole life, I live in idaho and we have some of the most rugged terrain in the world. A little bit of everything including marsh land to steep mountains and these boots are one of the best pair of boots I've ever had, before these I had Danner boots and I love Danner but these Irish setter boots are 100 % better as far as I'm concerned. I only ware them when I hunt because I love them so much I didn't want to ware them out. But I've waded through river beds I've sat in a tree stand in sub zero weather I've climbed rocky mountain peaks and I've put miles and miles on these boots and my feet never felt better. They are water proof warm and very comfortable. You can take them out of the box and walk 50 miles with no brake in time. They are that good I can't say enough about them because I don't have time and the only reason I'm writing a review is because I seen a negative review about them and I was shocked! I would say he must be a sissy but even a sissy would do awesome with these boots. I grease my irish setter boots after the end of every season and I've had them for over 20 years and they are still in great shape!! I love them and whoever gets a pair will love them if you are truly honest! If you're thinking about getting a pair do it!! You won't be sorry..I promise!!
Pros:
  • Warm..water proof..well made and extremely comfortable!
Cons:
  • Shouldn't be warn by people with no feet otherwise they are great!
  • Shouldn't be warn by people with no feet otherwise they are great!! :)
Best Used for:
  • Any terrain but to warm for hot weather

Solid boot so far

by Coytltracker, from PA, United States Written on September 5, 2022
Boots are tough because it's a too each their own deal. Everyone's feet are different and what makes you comfortable and everything else. I am extremely happy with these boots so far. I've only worn them a few times but I always dread breaking boots in and these haven't hurt my feet or ankles one bit. Thought they seemed heavy at first until I put them on and they are awesome! I highly recommend. As long as I get a year or so out of a good pair of boots im happy. If they don't I'll be back on here but so far so good. Especially because the price is right on these ones! This is the 2nd pair of Irish setters I've had and the first pair lasted a really long time and for being lace ups they were super water resistant. I'm happy...
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Comfortable
  • warm
  • water resistant
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • The outdoors

Repeat buyer of Irish Setter Elk Tracker 860 boots.

by Robert D Smithson, Verified Owner from WV, United States Written on February 25, 2022
The boots are very warm with 1,000 Grams of thinsulate, and so far water proof with the Gortex lining. The previous pair I purchased lasted over 5 years, and I wear them a lot. The only caution is, the sizing. I normally wear a 9 1/2 wide shoe, and I ordered an 11 EE boot (need to go a size and a half larger, in my circumstance). The import manufacturer seems to always make the boots smaller, on this model of boot. Otherwise, the boots are fantastic.
Pros:
  • Warm and water proof
Cons:
  • Sizing chart is a size and a half off. Go larger.
Best Used for:
  • Hunting and cold weather.

Super comfortable boot

by Tom, from WI, United States Written on November 24, 2021
I recently purchased these boots and was impressed with the comfort as soon as I tried them on. I have flat feet and wear custom insoles to prevent my plantarfacitis and decided to wear them at work and home before trying them with my orthotics. Very comfortable! I replaced the footbed with my orthotics and wore them to work all day where I stand on cement a lot, and they were very comfortable. I like to have my boots "broke in" before using them on a hunting trip. I have a size 9 1/2 shoe and generally order a size larger due to wearing two pair of socks most of the time while hunting. These were a perfect fit. When first on, they seemed snug but due to being new, after a short time they were perfect. I have purchased boots from Irish Setter before and my last two pairs lasted 16 years. I do not wear them every day but am an avid hunter who is hard on his equipment. If these wear as well, I'll be buying another pair as a back up to these. Plus, they look great!

Cant go wrong on this boot.

by Smitty, from OH, United States Written on November 27, 2020
I've owned alot of different boots in 40 years. I just came home from buying my second pair of these. I had to have a new pair. The first pair are still wearable and waterproof but they show some wear and the soles are wearing. I ONLY HAD THEM FOR 5 YEARS! That's right ABUSED for 5 years. I work as a new construction plumber. They have been abused and take it everyday. I wear them 12-15 hrs a day every winter. Everyday. At work, cutting firewood, hunting, fishing ect. Keep them clean. Boot dryer. Use red wing conditioner twice a week. And have the toes painted with tuff guard. Untill redwing stops selling these I'll continue to buy them.
Pros:
  • WORTH EVERY PENNY
Cons:
  • Winter boot. Too hot for warm weather
Best Used for:
  • What ever you're brave enough to do in them. Seriously

Irish Setter Elk Hunter Boot

by CLWMI, from MI, United States Written on March 25, 2019
This boot is well built and runs true to size. A nice feature is that it comes in wide widths also. The tread on the sole is above average and there is reinforcing stitching in the toe. The leather is high quality and the boot features Gore-Tex and Thinsulate-Ultra insulation. I also like the twelve inch height of the boot.
Best Used for:
  • Cool to Cold weather hunting
