Al's Review of ISOtunes Sport CALIBER BT Tactical Earbuds with True Wireless Bluetooth, 25 NRR

I have taken them out to a few range days, and have been around 9mm and 5.56. I'm comparing them to a few over the ear active ear protection, including the Walker ones and Zohan brand on Amazon. I personally think they protect my ears better than the over-the-ear ones, but I think that might be because I wear glasses and the over-the-ear ones don't seal perfectly around my frames. I also stuff the plugs in pretty good, so my ears do hurt a little more over time than over-the-ear protection. I'm getting used to it though. The sport calibers are alot easier to handle rifles and carbines, obviously. Also, being able to play music over them is nice. Not quite as good as the Samsung wireless earbuds that I also have, but pretty good sound quality. The one thing I don't like is how aggressive the cutout is for the sound. It works great around gunshots, but it also will cut out when talking to another person at arms length, or even a noisy truck driving by. Perhaps all these noises have been over 85db, but I know the Walkers are not as sensitive. Don't even bother using these on windy days, they'll act like regular ear protection since the cut out will be on continuously. I've asked Isotunes if they have a new firmware that could be uploaded, just waiting to hear back.
Pros:
  • Sound isolation
Cons:
  • Cutout is too aggressive
Best Used for:
  • Range
Would Recommend: Yes
