Suberb Quality and Function

I am a huge fan of the 7.62x39 caliber, but am not a fan of AK rifles. I've tried several times to build a 7.62x39 AR platform firearm, but have always had issues with feeding, cycling, etc. I had just chalked it up to the fact that 7.62x39 wasn't designed for the AR platform. I decided to give it one more change with this Jacob Grey Ultralight upper, and I was blown away. This upper functions flawlessly right out of the box with numerous combinations of mags and ammo. I've never had this happen with any of my other "AK-15" builds. Not only did this thing run great, the build quality is exceptional and the attention to detail in all aspects of the gun make it one you'll reach for everytime you head to the range. I highly reccomend this upper and I plan to buy others from Jacob Grey and OpticsPlanet again soon!
Most Helpful Positive Review Nice fit - Nice action
Mounted this upper on my Anderson lower and it fit nice and cycled smoothly. Shot several mags of steel ammo and it shot nice with no ftf's. Running the std 3 oz buffer and seems to be fine but I may play with buffer weights later after more rounds thru the weapon.

Very well machined and smooth action

Everythfrom the barrel to the handguard is very nicely machined and finished. The bcg cycles like a much higher end bcg that is smooth like higher end finishes. I also like the charging handle. It does weigh around 3lbs 15ozs but it is lightweight with the heavy barrel profile. The carbine length was definitely the way to go, especially for the hard hitting 7.62x39 ammo in an ar15 platform.

  • No.issues like other 7.62x39 Ar15 platforms
Cons:
  • Is a bit pricey but buy once cry once
