Most Helpful Positive Review 12:00 rail sizing
Quality is good, but figuring out what you need is really confusing. Spend some time on the JP website figuring it out. For the 12:00 position: JPTR-R Rifle length is 12" JPTR-M Mid-length is 9" JPTR-FS FS is typically for the front sight and is 2". Please remember these are only for the 12:00 position and as far as I know are compatible on all MKIII style including their Signature series. Shorter ones are compatible with longer rails if you want to save a little weight. Please remember that one end is designed to bridge the gap over the barrel nut and does not have a hole for a screw. If you need it, you need it

by noah.y, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on April 29, 2024
If you have a JP MkIII handguard, and you want to mount something that needs this much rail space, well, you need this. Nicely sized for a Magpul AFG2.

Well made, of course. Silly expensive. Perhaps a tad heavy if you're counting every ounce.

A tip: included are 3 10-32 screws and a threaded backer plate with 3 holes. Note that there is a 10-32 threaded hole in the fore/aft center of the handguard in the 6 o'clock position. You can put one of the screws in that hole instead of the backer plate and it works fine, so your position options along the bottom of the handguard are basically unlimited.

You need it!

by CCCitizen, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on September 24, 2020
This proprietary picatinny rail is absolutely necessary for the MK3 handguard especially if you plan on iron sights. It also gives it the full look to the rifle after installation. I really didnt think so since the MK3 handguard is the best looking handguard in the market but after adfing the picatinny rail WOW what a difference!! A must have with the MK3!!

Perfect fit

by Scott, from CA, United States Written on March 5, 2020
I got a JP skinny handguard for a 260 REM large-format AR build based on a DPMS LR308 upper. Love that float tube; its AR-15 diameter works just fine on my AR-10-class rifle. I wanted to mount a UTG Over Bore bipod (mounts to a front sight rail so the barrel hangs below it - really like the design).
This front sight rail had a very fair price and fit flawlessly; tight and with no rocking. I feel confident that it will handle the weight of the front half of the rifle hanging under the bipod.
Pros:
  • Becomes one with the handguard
Cons:
  • (none)

Tactical Rail Kit

by Chris, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on October 2, 2018
Item was exactly what I needed being I have a older hand guard requiring a backer to attach the picatinny rail section. If your hand guard doesn’t take MLOK, then this is what you’ll need. Quick turn around from order to receiving. Thanks.

Not as depicted

by Peter, from WI, United States Written on June 22, 2017
This rail is not as depicted. I sought this to specifically mount a forearm grip on the free float tube of my Bushmaster XM15 Varmiter Carbine. Both ends have ramps instead of being clean cut notches which, makes the end of the rail useless. My forearm grip has two notches on either end that need to rest in a grove but can't. I'd like to say this is a well built product but since I'll have to machine out full groves in the end before I can use it, I have no idea how it will perform long term.

  • None
Cons:
  • Not as depicted

2" top rail.

by Nino, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on March 19, 2017
JP Enterprise proprietary. I changed out the Allen with the torque screws from the older model hand guard. They work better and don't strip when you move them around. No need for lock tight, just set to 20 inch pounds.
