I recently purchased a JT CA compliant mag lock kit from Optics Planet for my AR10 build. I previously put one on an AR15. That was my first build, and even with my limited experience it was easy to install. It's also easy to use and allows relativey quick magazine changes for those of us living under restrictive CA gun laws. Just push the JR button, which allows the upper and lower receivers to seperate slighty (satisfying the CA law). The drop the mag, click the receivers back together, and your good to put in a new mag. The price was right and free shipping from OP is always good. Plus with all the Optics Planet bucks I aquired when ordering parts I was able to pick up a Lancer Viper Muzzle Break for a fraction of the cost.

Easy to install same as the AR-15 kit, but does not work the same on my .308. The takedown pin works fine to create the needed separation to release the magazine, but I have to close the separation of upper and lower and manually push the pin back in place to secure everything. My AR-15 kits are spring assisted and only need to push down the upper and "click" work as described. Not sure if I need to make adjustments to any joining surfaces or detent spring tension to allow to function as designed.

The package came quick. I used this to make a ca legal rifle. The kit installed in just a few minutes with the right tools. The kit does not allow the bolt to lock open to the rear after last round. A mag change is quick without learning any special techniques. The rear take down is locked in place and can’t be opened up more than a 1/4” once installed.
Cons:
- Bolt on empty and locks rear closed

Matched well with vr80 gen 2, youtube instructions were useless. at first the hellfighter refused to channel and break down in the vr80 which has a supposed ar10/ar15 design (i know). This is because the vr80 has a screw cap to secure the spring and detent pin, once removed, i put the hellfighter on first, fit the detent pin, fit the spring, put on the buffer plate to keep pressure . Removing the hex spring cap solved the issue. Hellfighter rotates and functions normally. Jt invented the only way to make california bearable, would buy again
Cons:
- End cap needs to be removed to take unit apart so i cannot loc tight it

Perfect on my vr80. MODIFICATIONS NEEDED! You will need to shave down the detent as its to large, the spring is a bit short to but still works. Only the AR10 juggernaut tactical kit will work on the VR80, the ar15 pin is to small.
