Papertiger308's Review of Kahles K624i 6-24x56 Illuminated Rifle Scope

When looking at scopes b/w $2500-3500 the K624i should garner serious consideration. The picture quality can be compared to the best of the best. Amazing light transmission with Kahles claiming 95%! Colors are more true to the eye compared to Vortex Razor Gen II, but colors do not pop quite as much as the Nightforce ATACR. I own all 3 and can say with confidence that the Kahles is my favorite. Weight is very light compared to other high end tactical 24-30x scopes. The optical prescription is nothing short of great, however the single flaw is the chromatic aberration. This can be noticed on targets at distance where the edges of the target appear solid as the colors blend together. Depending on lighting conditions you may also notice a very slight hint of purple to green fading from top to bottom. The CA exists, but I can only attest to this when specifically looking for it. I have never noticed it when the pressure is on and about to pull the trigger. The ATACR excels here, but to get a proper Christmas tree reticle you need to pay $300 more, and if you want illumination, forget about it!
Zero stop is the most simplistic design I have ever used, and the clicks are excellent as well. Second rotation indicator on top of dial is aces!
Lastly, the availability to have parallax control on top, and windage on the left side means the shooter can dial in any direction with only the left hand while keeping the right finger on the trigger. Kahles is often ahead of the game, and the K624i presents great value for the money when stacked up to the competition!
