Most Helpful Positive Review Works as designed
Linear compensators are designed to "squeeze" the sound and concussive blast of the exiting barrel gases forward and down-range, away from the shooter and anyone standing adjacent, and this does exactly that. I recently had the opportunity to shoot this outside at a private range with a group of people standing nearby (approximately 40 yards off to the side), none of whom had ear protection on, and they all commented that the muzzle report from the 10.5" AR-pistol I was shooting was "not bad at all" compared to a 16" with conventional flash hider. One thing to note about linear comps though,...

Great forward firing compensator

by RSO.Instructor, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on November 20, 2025
Does what its supposed to do, took off one star as the FDE finish is very delicate, scuffed it upon installation with a proper wrench.

quality product

by Jim, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on October 30, 2025
The purpose of the linear comp is to direct noise and flash toward the target and away from everyone else. It works and is particularly good for firing line use with other people adjacent. We added it to a Ruger LC 45 carbine to replace the muzzle thread cap. This is our second one and we like the quality.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • adds an ounce or two to the muzzle
Best Used for:
  • Ranges from 100 yards to CQB ranges

KVP linear comp in FDE

by Kyle, Verified Owner from NH, United States Written on August 31, 2025
This linear comp is nice, well made but the FDE cerakote finish is super thin and scratched off using an armorers wrench to torque it to spec. If you can deal with your new $50 FDE muzzle device being scratched under normal installation than it’s good to go. If not, just get the black non cerakote finish.
Best Used for:
  • 223/556
