Easy to Acquire a Front Sight in Low Light

by A, from TN, United States Written on May 29, 2020
The front post readily screwed into a Yugo M70 front sight post that was previously factory, and holds firm even after a solid few range days/being in and out of soft multiple times: have yet to feel the need to adjust it past zero. The tritium lamp is nice and visible in low light: wouldn’t say it’s “bright,” per se but you can quickly acquire the green dot when shouldering, and visible in close-to-total blackness (as close as I can get, anyway). My main issue in going from a traditional AK round post front sight is that, being that the traditional is a small cylinder that appears in the same orientation no matter where you are in screwing it in, allowing you to make very fine elevation adjustments; being that the sight is a blade you must turn it so that the tritium bead is facing you (you have to adjust elevation at *least* a half-turn of the sighting tool at a time or else you are looking directly the sight post’s broad side, defeating the purpose of buying it). My intention was to have it as a sort-of “battle sight” addition to the rifle and, as such, super fine accuracy wasn’t a concern, but i couldn’t help but notice it. Overall awesome for the price and what it’s designed to do.
Pros:
  • solid construction
  • Good Tritium Visibility
  • Relatively Good Value
  • Well-Machined Threading
Cons:
  • Appears to Offer Less Adjustment Capability than Traditional Front Sight
Best Used for:
  • Open-Sighted, Practical Rifles. Not Accuracy at Range.
