Difficult Install, but Aesthetically Pleasing

by bafflingbs, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on December 1, 2024
This was not an easy install. Unlike your OEM bolt lever, the spring is NOT captured. So, in order to install the new lever, you have to put the lever through the slot, with very little available dexterity. Then, you slide the spring onto the guide rod. The end facing the rear of the receiver, is a pretty sharp point. The other end, that threads through the charging lever, is the end of the spring. You must compress the spring, to thread the rod. Then you put the sharp end of the rod into the capture point inside the receiver. You must do all of this nearly all at once, while maintaining the position of the handle. Once you’re successful, with the proper positioning, you have to somehow pull the charging handle, now under the tension of the spring, all the way to the rear, in order to drop the bolt onto it. Small tip: Have a small flat-head screwdriver positioned in front of the lever, in order to leave a small gap and to assist in pulling the lever to the rear. A non marring vise is a must to hold your receiver while jumbling all of these items. When threading the guide rod into the lever, have needle nose pliers ready to hold the rod with the spring compressed, in order to hold the spring in position. Once threaded, maneuver the threaded lever into place where the screwdriver awaits. This is where you would pull the lever to the rear with the assistance of the flat-head screwdriver. Hopefully, this review helps!
