JC's Review of Kinetic Development Group SIDELOK Cantilever Modular Mount Scope Rings
I have finally concluded this journey, so here is the finale(be sure to read my other posts before this).
I reached out to KDG a fianl time, just so I could say I gave all before switching mount companies. All I questioned was why about half of my mounts have 1 mounting lug and the rest have 2 and if I could purchase 2-lug replacement bases for my singles. I did get a response the following day from an employee asking my contact info and showing some enthusiasm to help. That email was promptly followed by another one, from another employee apologiing for 'missing' all my other contact attempts, saying they could not sell me just the base(no reason given), but instead offered a small discount off of COMPLETE mount. After doing the maths, it's still cheaper for me to switch brands/mounts as I no longer have the income I had when I purchased the others.
The good news is, I was given an answer as to why the mounts are different. The single lug mounts were the gen1 mounts and the dual lug are the gen2. I purchased my mounts from various sellers like here and on ebay, so that explains it. If you decide to get this mount(which so far mine have been great), make sure you inquire to which version is being sold to you. Simple math/physics will tell you the 2 lug will mount and stay more securely on your firarm.
The CS has still left a sour taste and an equal level of confusion from when I started this quest. While the design question has been answered, I'm still confused my mounts aren't avaailable seperately and why a manufacturer* of parts for top tier weapons refuses to have a public phone number where someone could simply call with questions/concerns and not have to worry about being 'lost'. That said, rating stays the same.
As stated before, Samson DMR's are my next go to as they have always answered my calls/questions professionally and upmost courtesy. Call me picky and whiney, but I like being able to openly question anything I may have to depend my life on.
*I don't know how much they actually manufacture. The fact bases aren't available seperatley make me wonder how many of their products are made in house.
