Most Helpful Positive Review rock solid, easy on/off
Awesome mount. Easy to put on and take off. Rock solid when attached. Another reviewer stated it seemed loose, but keep this in mind...as it comes out of the box, the lower half of the rings are attached loosely to the mount, and the upper half of the rings are attached loosely to the lower half o...

Most Helpful Negative Review Great mount, lowsey CS from KDG
Let me start by saying I have 8 of these and they've been great so far with no issues to my knowledge. I don't beat my stuff up(go to great lengths to avoid it as a matter of fact), but so far so good). As another posted, sometimes the screws that hold the bottom metal to the qd base can be loose on...

Very Robust

by Corey, from TN, United States Written on November 29, 2024
If weight on your rifle is not a concern and you want a heavily built mount this is for you. The construction is thick rings with steel indexing pins on cantilever. The release mechanism is self-tensioned, so do not know yet the longevity.
Pros:
  • Heavily constructed
  • Radiused ring inner surface
Cons:
  • weight
  • Self-tension is not adjustable
Best Used for:
  • Large Caliber Rifles
  • Target or fixed position shooting

Great unique product

by AT, Verified Owner from MT, United States Written on May 31, 2023
I use these for my MDRx so I can swap optics quickly in addition to swapping calibers. The system works very well and seems very stable. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone that wants to be able to remove/add optics easily and quickly.
Pros:
  • Very easy to use
  • Stable mount to rifle
  • adjustable ring placement
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • proprietary rings
Best Used for:
  • quick changes

Great mount, lowsey CS from KDG Pt3

by JC, from IA, United States Written on April 20, 2021
I have finally concluded this journey, so here is the finale(be sure to read my other posts before this).

I reached out to KDG a fianl time, just so I could say I gave all before switching mount companies. All I questioned was why about half of my mounts have 1 mounting lug and the rest have 2 and if I could purchase 2-lug replacement bases for my singles. I did get a response the following day from an employee asking my contact info and showing some enthusiasm to help. That email was promptly followed by another one, from another employee apologiing for 'missing' all my other contact attempts, saying they could not sell me just the base(no reason given), but instead offered a small discount off of COMPLETE mount. After doing the maths, it's still cheaper for me to switch brands/mounts as I no longer have the income I had when I purchased the others.

The good news is, I was given an answer as to why the mounts are different. The single lug mounts were the gen1 mounts and the dual lug are the gen2. I purchased my mounts from various sellers like here and on ebay, so that explains it. If you decide to get this mount(which so far mine have been great), make sure you inquire to which version is being sold to you. Simple math/physics will tell you the 2 lug will mount and stay more securely on your firarm.

The CS has still left a sour taste and an equal level of confusion from when I started this quest. While the design question has been answered, I'm still confused my mounts a...

Great mount, lowsey CS from KDG Pt2

by JC, from IA, United States Written on February 21, 2021
I forgot to add in my other review that there appears to be 2 models of this mount. One has 2 lugs that lock to the pic rail and there is a version that has only 1. This was one of the questions I was trying to ask KDG and they refuse to reply. Make sure you get the dual-lug version as I personally wouldn't trust the single on anything...

Nice, but quality control issues exist

by Chris Ralles, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on December 24, 2020
I have 2 of these for my two AR15 rifles. I bought the first one two years ago. The second one was received today. The first one seems to work flawlessly. The second does not lock as positive onto the rail as the first i received. The locking cam on the second does not lock all the way forward. Emails with Kinetic have not been resolved as of yet. It does hold, but confidence that my scope will not fall off is not high. Time will tell.
Pros:
  • Zero reset is great when removing and installing onto the rail.
Cons:
  • Quality control.
Best Used for:
  • Quick removal for going to Iron sights or cleaning weapon.

I want to love this mount but...

by bravo, from TX, United States Written on June 16, 2020
So fair warning I do have this mounted on my scar 17 but my mount has broken twice. The screws towards the back of the upper base plate that hold the unit together have stripped out of the holes and the mount wobbles. I sent the unit back to KDG and when I got the mount back I took it out to zero again. After I started zeroing the rifle the same thing happened. The screws stripped out of the base plate and the mount just wobbles around. Maybe this mount is good on other rifles but from reading reviews on here this isn't some uncommon point of failure.
Best Used for:
  • Any rifle that isn't a scar?

Broke after like 200 rounds on an AR-10

by Sneed, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on May 25, 2020
This mount broke on an AR 10 way too easily. Base of the mount just came apart and the lever is super hard to work with now. Doesn't hold zero and it wobbles. Probably got a dud but that speak volumes to the quality control of KDG.
