Ok, I admit I'm a tactical flashlight geek and I have many flashlights. Not sure why but oh well. I guess I figure if two is one, and one is none...then 40 should be a good compromise. So, I purchased this model (Klarus G20L) not because I needed another flashlight, but because it claims 3000 lumens. Now I have no way to measure this but I did compare to my Fenix PD-35 Tac claiming to be 1000 lumens. The Klarus G20L just blows it out of the water! Definitely bright and the beam works great for me. Some flood blended with the spot which will definitely work well for searches. The reason I put "tactical it isn't" in the title is because when you unleash this bad boy, everyone will know you are there! So, if you are looking for an outdoor flood/searchlight that you can hold in one hand and carry in your pocket; this is a great light. Just don't turn it on high power (3000 lumens) in a dark room as you'll not only lose your night vision, you'll be temporarily blinded. I highly recommend. Fantastic light.
Pros:
Super Bright
Great for outside
multiple levels of power
Cons:
Too bright for house searching
Can temporarily blind yourself if used indoors
Best Used for:
search and rescue
Blinding an adversary
Signaling for help
Irritating your neighbors
Would recommend: Yes

I can’t verify that this thing puts out a full 3,000 lumens but I can tell it is one bright floodlight. I had it out in my backyard and it lights up the yard as much as my “house mounted” halogen floodlight does. It’s a pretty impressive light. It’s also a handful but not too big. I like the dual switches and the “memory” mode. I keep it on the low setting just so I don’t blind myself when I turn it on. If I need more light, I bump up the level. Probably will never need this much light for most tasks but it is nice to have when you need it! Great addition to my flashlight collection.
Pros:
Super bright ,clear
memory mode
Brightest small hand held I have had
Cons:
Gets hot on maximum
will cycle if on high too long
Do not use max brightness in a confined area
Best Used for:
Searching for anything in large open areas
Would recommend: Yes
