This is by far the best cleaner for removing stubborn gun powder residue. I use it with all my pistols, revolvers, rifle and shot gun actions & barrels. I begin with the use of a regular cleaner of choice (e.g., Hoppes, etc). I cut the Lead-Away cloth into short strips - perhaps 1.5" long by .5" wide (22LR, wider for large calibers). Insert a strip in a loop jag, turn the strip 90 degrees so it looks like a "butterfly" and run it through the bore several times. I then turn the strip 180 degrees to expose the side that was compressed against the rod and run it through a few more times. The strip will get black as it removes the residue. It will amaze you how much residue it removes that your regular cleaner leaves! After that, a patch with you personal preference cleaner removes the loosened residue left by the Lead-Away cloth followed by a dry patch and one with a little gun oil and your bore is as clean as a whistle! The strips work great on revolver cylinder faces, forcing cones, any area where gun pwder residue can accumulate. One word of caution - do not get too aggresive in rubbing blued gun surfaces as it can remove the bluing finish.
Pros: Very effective, Little rubbing requred, removes what other cleaners don't
Cons: Needs to be cut into strips for maximum economy
