CMP-Shooter's Review of Konus Konuspro 4 x 32 A.O. Rifle Scope with Rings 7266
Title says it all. The reticle was canted relative to the turrets by about 10 degrees clockwise. Windage adjustments affect elevation and vice versa. A description of the seriousness of this type of production issue can be found on AccurateShooter. Their recommendation:
"Our point here is that it is time for the major scope-makers to address this problem and improve their quality control. That will happen sooner if consumers pay greater attention to reticle alignment during the purchasing process. If you have a scope with a canted reticle, send it back to the maker and ask for the problem to be fixed. If enough shooters do that, we expect the scope-makers will take notice and improve their products."
Regarding the glass itself, adjustable objective is marked in yards and meters from 10-100-Inf. It actually works and is a must-have for my purposes. I dedicated this as a CMP highpower scope. Unfortunately the glass quality leaves much to be desired. There is significant spherical aberration and fuzziness. There is no ocular fast focus adjustment. It comes with 3/8" dovetail ring mounts. The scope caps are see-through and better than Bushnell's. A microfiber cloth and hex key is included. The reticle is etched glass. Konus claims this scope is Japanese glass, assembled in China.
The turrets are old-fashioned. They have indexed discs beneath a rectangular knob, but no indexing notch on the body itself to match up with it. Use a permanent pen. You will over-click as a matter of course.
I was unable to perform a proper box test due to these issues. So while this scope appears to be a decent option for a budget CMP optic due to the AO feature, I must suggest instead using a better 1-4x variable with fixed parallax, and more importantly, better turrets and reticle alignment.
I will note Konus has responsive support. They said they would replace the scope with a new one if I mailed it back to them. The US based staff for the Italian company goes out of their way to be helpful. When (or if) I send this scope back I will fill in if the issue is fixed. One can't expect too much from a sub-$100 scope, but it would be nice if it lived up to the Konus M30s reputation.
