Konustar geologist compass - Konus Konustar Professional Metal Geology Compasses

I'd owned a version of this compass previously and was very pleased with it. After giving it as a gift to a friend, I realized how much I wanted one to replace it. It's an excellent design. Eschenbach puts out a prismatic version that costs 5 times as much as this one, but it's not 5 times better.

The screw-mount on the bottom permits the user to mount it on a camera tripod or kiking staff. The additional stability provided by this feature permits quite accurate compass readings. I wish more compasses had this feature.

The compass I received is just like the previous one, only with just one minor flaw. The sighting window is misaligned by about 3 to 5 degrees. For the price, and considering it was made in China, I suppose I can expect as much. Just the same, after this minor correction, it will be an outstanding compass and worth the money spent.
Pros: Excellent features for the cost, intuitive use, quite accurate
Cons: workmanship could be better
