Most Helpful Positive Review Absolutely Amazing Glass
These Kowa Genesis are truly the best kept secret in binoculars. This is 100% alpha glass at half the price of Swarovski, Leica, or Zeiss. There is zero discernible chromatic aberration / false color fringing. The knurled metal focus knob is quite intuitive and enjoyable to use. These 8x33 somehow manage to outperform binoculars twice the size and twice the price! I’m obsessed with these and will reach for them over my Zeiss, Swarovski, and Vortex Razor UHD.

Its a beauty

by ZedK, from CA, United States Written on September 30, 2018
I volunteer at several desert California State Parks and hike their many miles of trails and also visit Death Valley National Park. Having decent binoculars is an essential accessory for many reasons when exploring those locations. The Kowa 8X33 Genesis binoculars I purchased from Optics Planet are well beyond decent, they are: lightweight, compact, ergonomically perfect, extremely well made (in Japan), focusing is accurate and easy, and most importantly, clarity is as clear as the very best.
Pros:
  • Clear as Austrian crystal
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Dusk to dawn

Great Optics in a Mid-Sized Binocular

by Quoddy, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on November 10, 2016
I bought this pair of bins to reach a happy medium in weight and size after years of using 10x42 and 8x42 optics. The view is incredibly clear, bright, and contrasty. Wearing glasses the stated 15mm eye relief may have been pushing it a bit since it take a lot of pressure on my face to see the entire view. I, almost immediately, hooked them up with a Rick Young "harness" and I will be doing a lot more actual wearing.
Pros:
  • Clear and bright
  • Perfect size
  • Ergonomic and easy to operate
Cons:
  • Eye Relief marginal for eyeglasses
Best Used for:
  • Birding and Wildlife viewing
