As I got more and more serious about birding, I purchased increasing expensive binoculars, and finally purchase a pair of Swarovski EL's about 12 years ago. At the time, I seriously thought they would be the last binoculars I purchased. I was absolutely convinced that no better optical clarity was possible - and still believe that (but I understand technology has improved, so I'd be willing to look through new binoculars, but there's a limit to what my eyes can perceive).
But for many years I wanted a pair of smaller binoculars, or compact binoculars, as a "back-up" pair or to keep handy in...

The Kowa 8x25 BD binoculars were rated highly on bestbinocularsreviews.com, amongst other reviews, so I bought them based on reviews, and am glad I did. I can’t believe how crisp and bright these small lenses are. The lenses are of such quality, that I can see no noticeable difference in the image quality when compared to a pair of HD bino’s that I paid $600 for. They come with lens caps, a nice 1” wide neck strap and a padded case that has plenty of room for the bino’s with the strap attached, to fit inside. They are small, light, rubber armored, are affordable, and have high quality optics, which is exactly what I was looking for. I bought these mainly for hunting, but they will make good traveling bino’s for whale watching during our trip to Hawaii in a few months. At 11 ounces, I have worn these around my neck all day long while hunting, and hardly noticed that they are there.
Two weeks after I purchased these from Optics Planet, their price dropped $56 from what I paid, and they honored their 30 day low price guarantee and refunded me the difference. You can’t beat that! Overall, I am very pleased with my choice of bino’s as well as the great service I received from Optics Planet. Due to Optics Planet’s prompt shipping and honorable business practices, I will continue to be their customer for my future optics.
Pros:
Small, light, affordable, and high quality thoughout
Cons:
The case is fake leather and kind of cheap looking, but it works fine.
Best Used for:
I keep them in my truck for any situation, but bought them mainly for hunting.

This little binocular handles well and seems well built. The view is not as sharp as my 8x42 nikon but is acceptable for such s small unit. Focus is kind of finicky and fine tuning is slightly hard because focus does not jump out at you. Also i think it is too expensive for what you get. I have to say you are better off with a medium size pair than with this, both price wise and optics wise.
Pros: nice size seems well built
Cons: fussy eye placement 4 little lens caps fall off
