I enjoyed the La Sportiva brand for years as a rock climber and mountaineer. The brand's running clothing is excellent, and these shorts are a great example. I have been trying to find a pair for two years - always out of stock where I looked online. So glad to have found them on Optics Planet!

They fit very well, are super-comfortable, are a great weight long runs on hot days, and did a great job preventing chafe during my recent marathon. These are KEY features, and I am confident these shorts will go the distance on my upcoming ultramarathon.

If I could change anything, it would be the pockets. The side pockets are functional and easy to use, but I wish these shorts had a lower leg side pocket for the phone (for mapping, not texting :) The zippered back pocket is too small for my phone (I should say, my phone is too big for the pocket...of any running shorts!) Also, while the small rectangular running water bottles can fit into the side pockets, using them for that takes away needed space for fuel on longer runs. I wish there were more pockets or mesh sleeves along the top of the shorts for gels, etc. If you are going on a long run, and don't have friends meeting you along the way to provide water and snacks, then you might want to wear a small water or fuel belt for added carrying space.

That said, I wouldn't consider the pockets as a "negative"; they could perhaps just be slightly improved, for those who want the 'freedom' to run long without aid stations. I would hav...
